Publisher Description

How do I make ebooks from the printed version?

You do not need to know any code. If you set up your book in InDesign and it is completely controlled by styles; I have good news. InDesign CC is designed to make the conversion to ePUB process quite simple. The key is found in your use of styles.

There is no room for local formatting in modern self-publishing. The HTML/CSS used to produce your ebook requires tags and classes for every paragraph and spans for every character style.

In this book, David helps you set up your ebook so the conversions of your paragraph, character, and object styles are made easily. Printed books and ebooks seem very different, but they are both normally one long threaded story, from beginning to end. You'll learn what can be done and what is not possible.

Many typographic effects are easy in print but must be done graphically in an ePUB. You will learn how to design your graphics to display effectively and beautifully in iBooks, Kobo, Kindle, and Nook. Once you understand what can be done, it is not difficult to have the InDesign document for your printed book set up for an easy conversion. You will discover that you can convert your book to an ePUB and get it uploaded to the various vendors while your print book is proofed, approved, and released.
