The People
Zenna Henderson is best remembered for her stories of the People which appeared in The Magazine of Fantasy and Science Fiction from the early 1950s to the middle 1970s. The People escaped the destruction of their home planet and crashed on Earth in the Southwest just before the turn of the century. Fully human in appearance, they possessed many extraordinary powers. Henderson’s People stories tell of their struggles to fit in and to live their lives as ordinary people, unmolested by fearful and ignorant neighbors. The People are “us at our best, as we hope to be, and where (with work and with luck) we may be in some future.”
Ingathering contains all seventeen of the People stories, including one, “Michal Without,” which has never before been published.

Needs a HUMAN copy editor
Whoever did the conversion to ebook for this collection needs to learn that "text recognition" software is NOT perfect & needs a human editor to go over it. Every single instance of "cl" in the original text has been changed to "d" in this ebook -- I've got the hardcover version of this collection as well as the two paperback versions that were issued first, and was able to compare the texts. When "clung" gets changed to "dung" and "clucked" to "ducked" (etc etc etc), it results in nonsensical sentences...and a number of inadvertently **offensive** ones that Ms Henderson would've been embarrassed to see.
The stories of the People are must-reads for any lover of SF/F, but not in this form. Hunt down the hardcopies, which aren't filled with lazy text-recognition errors that any grade-schooler could have have & corrected. As much as I love Zenna's work, this ebook is not worth the price, not until the errors are corrected by a competent editor.
