Innovation at Hamlin

The mission of The Hamlin School is to educate girls to meet the challenges of their time and inspire them to become extraordinary thinkers and innovators, courageous leaders, and women of integrity. Hamlin is committed to using technology in new ways to facilitate student learning, professional growth, and community engagement. From grade 2-8 one-to-one iPad are used to reinforce the basic, formative skills already taught through direct instruction. Each classroom is outfitted with Apple TV, and each floor has a MacBook cart available.


The girls work individually, with partners, and in small groups to explore educational apps. They regularly create multimedia content using apps such as Photos, iMovie, GarageBand, Pages, Keynote, and iBooks Author to communicate what they’ve learned. The school has created a K-8 coding and robotics program so that all students have the opportunity to code and build at an early age. The use of iPad not only increases engagement in the classroom, but also generates a learning environment that’s expanded, individualized, and inherently collaborative.
