Cooking has always been seen as a gateway to the soul: feeding not only the body but also the heart with delicious, comforting food. Making a meal for someone is performed in appreciation and love for that person in your life.


Author Carolyn Blake views cooking in the same way as others do, even operating her own catering business called “Love Catering by Carolyn”. 


Yet God called her to do more than cook appetizing meals for people, but to craft a cookbook that also shares motivational stories from her testimony. He even woke her up one night with the title to this meaningful display of food and fellowship: Inspired by Experience: Recipes for the Mind, Body and Soul.


Within the pages of her cookbook, Carolyn presents some of her favorite dishes to prepare: everything from Carolyn’s Shrimp And Grits to home-style spaghetti to Sweet “P” Pie. Each recipe is accompanied with a scripture verse to match and unite God’s love to freshly prepared food that nourishes the body and soul.


Intermixed with the recipes are short stories taken from the author’s life, as well as thoughts on verses from God’s Word, the Bible. 


Carolyn opens up to readers about her struggle with anxiety attacks and vertigo, becoming a mother, handling her divorce and enduring trials in life that she sees now as tests God implemented to bring forth more blessings to her. 


She separates the stories into the categories of Mind, Body and Soul, revealing similar attributes within the stories that connect to these three characteristics of a person. 


Besides pleasing your palate, Inspired by Experience will fulfill the longings in your heart to know who God is and the importance of having Him lead your life. He is the Provider of not only food for the body, but also food for the mind and soul.
