Bought for Briggs story, worth it for Knoghy’s T-Rex story!
This is a really fun collection. I feel it heated up in the last quarter with different types of animals appearing- Coon Kat, T-Rex and the many species in Riggs’ two series, which are interwoven, so kind of one series to her fans. I brought the book for her short story. But after many good stories of supernatural stories from dog and cat POVs, the real standout was Sam Knoght’s T-Rex in Junk Yard story. Great world, characters, writing, reality, creativity. Naturally, I was still happy to follow the Mercedes world of Briggs- the last story in this collection & a great one. (Also, happily for me not told through the cat/ dog POV, which gets old.) But for me, the T-Rex story by Knight was the big surprise here & worth the price of admission. Much of which goes to rescue actual dogs/pets, so I do get the right focus of the series. But, if you get tired of bouncy dog and better than human cat POV stories, there is still a lot to like in this collection.
Instinct
Many of these stories made me want to read other books by these authors. I’m actually sorry that I am done, and there are no more stories to read from this collection.
