INTO THE FIRE

A story appeared in the aftermath of the 9-11 attacks. The bodies of two people - an Irish-American firefighter and an unidentifiable woman - were uncovered in the rubble of Ground Zero, fused together so tightly that they could not be separated. The author uses that sad find to spin a beautiful, sometimes brutal, love story of two people who navigate the harsh realities of life in New York as they trace their individual backgrounds that bring them to that fateful day in the Twin Towers where, in their final moments, they experience real love, maybe for the very first time. They are lost forever, but lost together.
