Intolerable

Ruark Hannigan, the Earl of Wexford, has not had any luck in finding love. Many times he thought he was in love but he quickly realizes he was not really in love. He promises his father that he will not marry until he is thirty. This will help him to be sure he really loves his wife. Ruark is a member of the Phoenix Club and a good friend to the owner Lucien. Cassandra Westbrook is the daughter of the Duke of Evesham. One afternoon she sneaks into her brother Lucien’s club and accidentally finds herself in a closet with Ruark. He thinks she is a maid and kisses her. Now neither one of them cannot forget the kiss. Unfortunately Ruark cannot marry Cassandra because of his promise. Ruark also feels he must stay away from Lucien’s sister. Ruark and Cassandra have a great deal of chemistry. They are amazing together. Cassandra knows she is in love but will Ruark realize he is truly in love before it is too late. This was a fun story to read. I enjoyed their unusual courtship. Ruark is charming and protective. Ruark and Cassandra are passionate and their story flows. I enjoyed revisiting characters from earlier books. I look forward to the next book in the Phoenix Club. Intolerable

I’m always delighted to step back intime into The Phoenix Club series and it’s intriguing members. Meddling parents, secrets, sexual tension, and an Irish Earl that keeps falling in love, maybe?

Lady Cassandra Westbrook needs to find a suitor to marry by the end of the season or her father will pick one for her. She wants to fall in love or at least be compatible with her betrothed but the task seems daunting. Her overbearing and imposing father is scaring any acceptable candidates away and her time is running out. Her brothers being of no help she enlists Ruark to help her. The problem is that she is fall for the person she can’t have.

Rourk Hannigan, Earl of Wexford made a promise not to marry until the age of thirty when he knows his heart better. He has three more years to go, if he marries at all. When Lady Cassandra asks for his help with enticing suitors he maybe in trouble. Since the incident he can’t keep her out of his mind but now spending more time with her may be very difficult to keep her out if his heart or keep his promise. When an acceptable suitor presents himself can Ruark step aside an keep his promise.

Cassandra is told to wed by her father, a duke. Her scheme is to have Ruark pay her a call to get others interested in her.

I would have liked Ruark better had he not tupped at least five courtesans after kissing Cassandra ( or the incident).

I did like updates on the other couples in this series.
