"Introduction to Bedside Ultrasound" is a revolutionary text that seeks to teach bedside ultrasound to students in a more efficient, directed format than previous texts. It accomplishes this with a plethora of multimedia adjuncts. Instead of simply reading about ultrasound pathology and protocols, the reader can watch actual videos and demonstrations of the pathology from directly within the book while reading. This experience is closer to bedside learning with a true expert than reading a traditional textbook.
FINALLY! Well worth $30
I've downloaded several ultrasound textbooks (all of which cost much more than $30), and this is this first one that actually takes advantage of the iPad platform. Finally an iBook that is actually interactive and plays videos with audio instruction. Would like a little more in depth about some subjects, but there are plenty of links and referrals to other resources to keep me busy.
Visual media for a visual skill. Great photos, videos, and explanations. Awesome topics, for both beginners and veterans. Great buy.
Oh, the opportunities!
This book is phenomenal not only for the multitude of ways that it gets the message across (concise text, labelled images, video, links to other resources, etc...) but also for the wide range of uses of ultrasound that it describes. As a med student heading for residency, I know I'll be able to grow into this book. I definitely would not have thought of using ultrasound to identify a shoulder dislocation or a hip effusion! Thanks for the great resource.
