Misidentified & incorrect statements
Just downloaded the book and immediately found a major mistake (it’s also one of the preview screen shots in iTunes). A photo on the first page of the insects chapter has a caption that reads, “A dragonfly has large compound eyes”. But the insect in the photo is clearly an antlion (order Neuroptera), which [almost] couldn’t be farther away from dragonflies (order Odonata). This needs to be fixed.
Egads, page 6 (bees) has several errors. Among them:
“Bees have a long proboscis” - not true; there are entire bee families that have short mouthparts
“Pollen is fed to the young in the hive” - not true; most bee species do not live in hives
“... nectar is used to make honey.” - not true; most bee species do not make honey
Apparently, this book was written for Australia; that should be mentioned in the description on iTunes. The book’s information might not apply to other regions of the world.
