Invisible Abuse

Violence is often understood exclusively in unilateral terms—men against women. In fact, most definitions point in that direction, such as the one that states that gender-based violence “is violence perpetrated against women simply because they are women, a
violence that crosses borders and cultures and continues to persist despite progress made in other areas of society” (Ramos, 2012). However, there is a vast silence regarding violence against men, as if the only violence that existed were that which affects women.
