Publisher Description
The Oregon crew must work without their usual resources when a rogue hacker empties their bank account in this action-packed installment from the #1 New York Times–bestselling grand master of adventure.
When a bank heist during the Monaco Grand Priz decimates the Corporation’s “offshore” account, Juan Cabrillo and the crew of the Oregon find themselves unexpectedly vulnerable. Without his usual financial assets, Juan must trust a woman from his past, an old friend from his days with the CIA, to help him keep his team safe. Together, they’ll face a mysterious hacker with a brutal vendetta. It is only after the hunt begins that the enormity of the plan comes into focus: the bank theft is just the first step in a plot that will result in the deaths of millions and bring the world’s economies to a standstill. The catalyst for the scheme? A stunning document stolen during Napoleon’s disastrous invasion of Russia. But two hundred years later, it may be the thing that brings Europe to its knees.
PUBLISHERS WEEKLY
A high level of tolerance for implausibility is required to enjoy bestseller Cussler's high-octane 11th Oregon Files adventure (after 2015's Piranha), the second in the series to be coauthored by Morrison. Juan Cabrillo runs the Corporation, an off-the-books U.S. government intelligence operation, based on the Oregon, a super-ship fitted with "revolutionary new magnetohydrodynamic engines" and an array of powerful weapons. The Oregon also features the amenities of a luxury liner, including an Olympic-sized swimming pool, chefs "trained at the Cordon Bleu," and a Navy-trained chief medical officer whose "lab coat remained spotless as it draped over her voluptuous curves." The Corporation is facing an unprecedented challenge after someone who hacked into a Monaco bank's systems threatens to plunge the European economy into chaos. The scheme is somehow connected with the search for "Napoleon's lost Russian treasure using a diary the emperor left behind after he was supposedly kidnapped from exile without anyone realizing it"; even the characters acknowledge that the premise is bizarre. The authors keep things moving at a fast pace, but there's nothing in this outing that genre fans haven't seen before.

The Emperor’s Revenge. Clive Cussler
Juan Cabrillo and the crew of The Oregon are it appears to be in an evenly matched flight against the crew of the Achilles and its diabolical leader a disgruntled Ukrainian navy captain named Sergey Golov who has pirated a yacht from a Russian billionaire named Maxim Antonovich. Volvo’s daughter is a computer whiz and an infamous hacker who has hacked into bank accounts and taken 30 billion euros. She has taken all of Cabrillos’s money and his crew as well. Golov is also trying to find the missing treasures Napoleon has also hidden. What ensues is a non stop action thriller of immense proportions!! Enjoyed immensely !!! My highest recommendation !!
Masterpiece again
Could not stop reading...
Worthy read 4 1st timer or fan.
Not the most inventive of this series, but by far the deepest dive into multiple emotional dimensions. At times the narratives are as predictable as Cabrillo's crew. However, even a seasoned Oregon series or Cussler reader will find every reason to keep turning pages. And, once on the last page the spoils of victory are conceded to the author who dared to challenge his audience with the previously unimagined co-morbidities of avarice and accessibility, triumph and tragedy, and valor and vanity.
