From Mystery to Maturity

As Chinese evangelicals seek spiritual renewal and greater intimacy with God, Christian mysticism is an enriching resource. In this study, Dr. Qianhong Catherine Chen traces the history of Chinese evangelical spirituality, from 1805 to the present, and contends that the path towards greater transformation can be found by appropriating the mystical tradition. Firmly rooted within evangelical convictions, Chen identifies seven core motifs within mysticism that offer unique pathways for spiritual maturity and communal unity for evangelicals in the mainland and across the diaspora.
