Publisher Description

In the very near future, on the tiny island of Lanai, teens from very different worlds must find a way to survive when all technology is destroyed.

Bea and Sam, Hawaiian kids isolated by a paranoid, alcoholic father, are thrown together with orphaned big-city pickpocket Nick when a disaster fries all technology. Aided by a mysterious `aumakua dragon that may or may not be Bea's imaginary friend, the kids face fire, plane crashes, gangs, pit bulls, thieves, sharks, hunger, thirst and abuse in a coming-of-age that explores a post-technology world where only the strong and connected survive.

"Danger, love, fear, absolution, bravery and strength in a fascinating world are shown through wonderful characters in this absolutely beautiful story." G. S., Reviewer

"Deep, fast-paced, filled with action, suspense, and heart, this little book is huge!" B. Morrison, Middle school teacher

Island Fire

Toby Neal does it again, this time with a Young Adult novel! Island Fire is a touching story that focuses on four young adults and how they mature and develop relationships after a tragic event. Island Fire incorporates a blend of genres at just the right amount, fantasy, mystery, suspense, love, etc. Set on the beautiful island of Lanai, young adults will read until the end as they attempt to find out the outcome of the story. Reads like a modern-day Huck Finn with a twist of Jurassic Park. A great holiday gift for the Young Adults in your life!

DONT MISS FIRE ISLAND...

I just finished Island Fire....unbelievable...I loved every moment of it. Don't let the targeted age group stop you from reading this book! I was imagining seeing this in theaters and casting parts in my head! What a great concept and i want my OWN `Aumakua! Without undue violence or harsh language, the story unfolds and is so believable that I felt like i was there with Bea, Sam, Nick and Jaden. Thank you Toby!!! And keep em coming...I cant lose those characters now!! I just fell in love with them!! And I am so totally taken with the notion of living in this new world, my mind is just racing with ideas of how different it could be and how different we would be. Dangers, love, family, fear, absolution, bravery, strength....i could go on and on about these wonderful characters you have woven together with this absolutely beautiful story.

Island Fire Is A Winner

If I did not know beforehand Island Fire was written with a YA reader in mind, I would have never guessed. The super talented Toby Neal has branched out of her normal genre and will captivate any audience with the storyline.

Island Fire has it all with a comforting dragon, intrigue, islands cut off from each other and from civilization by an unexplained phenomenon with bizarre after effects, everything to keep you on the edge looking for what's next. Teenagers with survival skills learned at any early age from life on a remote island and a city boy plane crash survivor makes Island Fire a book you cannot put down.
