Publisher Description
He set his star by a simple motto: duty, honor, country. Only rarely does history grant a single individual the ability, personal charisma, moral force, and intelligence to command the respect, admiration, and affection of an entire nation. But such a man is General H. Norman Schwarzkopf, commander of the Allied Forces in the Gulf War. Now, in this refreshingly candid and typically outspoken autobiography, General Schwarzkopf reviews his remarkable life and career: the events, the adventures, and the emotions that molded the character and shaped the beliefs of this uniquely distinguished American leader.

We don't make leaders like this anymore
Militarily the lay out of desert shield into desert storm is illuminating. This book discusses the logistics of war which is amazing.
General Schwarzkopf's upbringing and study of the Middle East and mannerisms made him the perfect leader for these operations. America couldn't have designed a better man for it.
Personally, he could have delve more into his mothers alcoholism and then the fight he had with his sister while under the influence. A lot of Soldiers should look to the Schwarzkopf's struggle with alcohol and learn. He could have taken up this fight within the Army.
This book is written by a man gone too soon and one of Americas best!
Terrific
Outstanding! Loved every page. So sad that we have lost such a great man. He was a General,s General. This world is a better place because of General Norman Swartzkoff
Great book and an invaluable piece of history
Having been part of this historical conflict, this book brought back many memories. He will always be one of my favorite Generals.
On the other hand, this book has major editing/grammatical errors. I hope the publishing house fixes this. It deserves great attention to detail.
I am thankful that the General did not hold back on reminding those spineless cowards that think they can get everything they want just because they are politicians.
