Jackie Boy, a seven-year-old, has the beach to himself for the summer. One day, he notices a tiny crab scurrying past and disappearing into the sand and follows in hot pursuit. The first moments of their meeting were tense, but the two quickly realize they could understand and talk to each other. A friendship forms and Tiny Crab sets about introducing Jackie Boy to a host of sea folk. From that moment, the summer becomes an incredible adventure. He rides on the back of a sailfish with a new friend, a young mermaid.
