What impresses me most is no detail goes to waste. The characters are fully realized and the brokenness of their situations feels like a necessary result of their circumstances rather than contrived ruthlessness and violence.

The first book was better. The character building was solid but it seemed to drag on.
Not the war you’re thinking
With the climactic ending of Jade City, you would think that this book would be full of jade v jade fighting every chapter, but that is not the case. Jade War is more like a Cold War. Clans constantly one upping each other and dealing with the consequences of past mistakes finally coming full circle.
