Publisher Description
The whole city gained a Messiah. He lost a brother.
James ben Joseph never believed Jesus was a rebel. Reckless with His words, perhaps, and impossible to reason with, but never a man deserving of a cross.
He traveled to Jerusalem for Passover hoping to persuade his older brother to abandon His dangerous teaching and come home to Nazareth. Instead he watched betrayal, arrest, and crucifixion unfold, and when the moment came to stand beside his own blood, James turned away to protect his family.
Now the city is alive with a claim he cannot allow to spread. They are saying Jesus has risen. Every day the rumor survives brings his mother, his brothers, and his sisters closer to the same fate.
Determined to shield them, James sets out to find whoever is spreading these words. What he uncovers will force a decision that changes everything.
Step into the world of first-century Jerusalem and follow James on his journey of faith in James, Book 1 of the Servant Siblings series.
Customer Reviews
Good, clean biblical reading.
Love this series, although this first book was hard for me to get into. It probably has more to do with a rough season in my life, but I felt like the despair was so heavy until the last quarter of the book, when finally the heaviness seemed to subside, or perhaps because I know James reconciles with his brother, and I know how this story ends. I was struggling to stick with this. Besides the heaviness, this book was well written, I love a good clean read, and I especially love biblical history, even if it’s a bit fictitious, books like this bring the Bible to life! I’ve only recently read some of Jenifer’s writings, but love her imagery and what I’ve read is very well written, with few grammatical errors.
