Jangar

Jangar was born the ninth daughter to a man who had waited too long for a son. Before he died, he bound her to a promise: she would bear nine sons to carry his line.

Then plague strips her world bare. Fire refuses to take her. Mount Khorgo splits open beneath her feet, and what rises from that wound is older than mercy—an ancient law of blood, reckoning, and return.

Jangar comes back marked by that law, able to drag the dying back from the edge. But nothing in Zambulin is spared without cost. Every life she saves drives another toward ruin. As her sons are born, fear spreads, old rites awaken, and something buried in her blood wakes.

When the ninth child stirs, the mountain calls her back—and this time, it has come to collect.
