Publisher Description
Jet Vignettes is a departure from the genre of books telling crazy crew and passenger drama tales; instead, it is the personal stories of an international flight attendant traveling around the world for the last 23 years: the laughter, discoveries, experiences, grief, love, downright frightening moments, crew camaraderie and multiple adventures.
Flight attendants have the job that reaps the most rewards. Buying Japanese bottle openers and kimonos in Tokyo, having cocktails outside at the “barrel bar” in Rome late on a summer afternoon or, because it is winter, heading south to lie on the beaches of Rio de Janeiro - all in the same month - is what makes the job of a flight attendant so addictive, and enviable. When we arrive anywhere, our work is done and the day, or night, is ours to enjoy. And that we do - Jet Vignettes.
Customer Reviews
Highly recommend this book - a wonderful read
Just read Jet Vignettes. Wonderful description of a demanding job sometimes dealing with difficult people and emergency situations. The book does a great job of describing the upside of the position - working with other flight attendants, travel to interesting places, wonderful adventures etc. Couldn't put it down once I started and kept thinking "i have to read one more chapter". I highly recommend this book.
In Flight Tour
Enjoy the highs and the lows of travel written by one of the "Real Frequent Fliers"....a Flight Attendant. The author, Ms. Caldwell divulges the encounters with the famous and the somberness of personal loss. Consider Jet Vignettes as a whirlwind tour of vast travel experiences that you'll rarely discover on bookshelves today.
Best of the Genre
Whenever I've read an "airline insider" book before it always seems to be a litany of crazy people on planes. Ms. Caldwell's book takes the high road and gives you the most positive and life affirming stories I've read in any airline book ever. Loved it!
