John M. Gillespie: A Teamster's Life

John Murray Gillespie, “Gil” or “Jack” to his friends, might not be the most prominent of the early leaders of the International Brotherhood of Teamsters, but his influence in the development and the growth of both Local 25 and the International Union is ever present. His dedication to the cause demonstrated his strength of character, especially his loyalty to his fellow Teamsters. From his days as a team driver in Boston, to his service as the General Secretary-Treasurer, Gillespie gave the best of himself to the labor movement.
