There's a lot of cruelty (his) and bitterness (hers) in this book by the late Beatle's first wife and mother of his elder son, Julian Lennon. A rehash of the Beatles' beginnings from the wife's point of view, the book reveals that Lennon was a pretty messed-up guy who preached universal love for the world and ignored his own family. Saddest, of course, is the effect of all this on Julian, who writes the introduction and praises Mum for her courage and love. Three marriages later, though, Cynthia still burns with anger mostly at Yoko Ono, whom she believes brainwashed John. When asked if she was sorry she'd fallen in love with the singer-songwriter in the first place, she writes, "If I'd known as a teenager what falling for John Lennon would lead to, I would have turned round right then and walked away." If only she had let him be.

This doesn't appear to be the complete book. Where is the index? Photos? This is obviously an iBook review. I won't purchase books online if all content is not included.

Definitely, Cynthia's side of the story but an interesting read. I always guessed John would be impossible to live with but I was not prepared to learn that fame was so uncomfortable for the Beatles and their families. It stands to reason that money, adoration and celebrity are all heavy burdens to bear. May both Cynthia and John rest in peace.
Life lessons
The life endured while married to John Lennon of Cynthia Lennon is one of a survivor of domestic abuse. John Lennon was controlling and verbally abusive on one hand and then loving and reassuring when he was afraid of losing Cynthia. His Aunt Mimi was the mold in which he was made and learned how to manipulate people.
When Yoko came along, all the familiar patterns of control were there and he fell right into the spiders trap. Julian is the child of domestic abuse who longs for the parents love who never returns it.
Thankfully Julian was more influenced by his mother and turned out to be a kind loving human being.
