July/August Buzz Books Monthly

You’ll find exclusive excerpts of seven titles due for publication during the months of July and August in this sampler. Begin with a darkly comic novel, French Exit, from bestselling author Patrick deWitt about a wealthy widow and her adult son who flee New York for Paris in the wake of scandal, then read Kristan Higgin’s funny novel about women’s body image and friendship, Good Luck With That. Ottessa Moshfegh follows up her Booker-nominated novel Eileen with another idiosyncratic work, My Year of Rest and Relaxation. The first novel in ten years from Keith Gessen, A Terrible Country looks at family loyalty in Russia, while Beatriz Williams tells the story of a wealthy New England family in Summer Wives.

Rounding out this monthly are two debuts: Baby Teeth by Zoje Stage is a thriller about a little girl and her parents while Jack Ford’s Chariot on the Mountain is based on a historical court case in the Old South
