The star of a new show, he has clearly forgotten all about her. Or has he? Melanie is determined to get in touch with him and find out just what she meant to him last summer.

A very sweet and touching romance...
That’s not all you get with Ann M. Martin’s Just A Summer Romance, though. This love story is also realistically conveyed. Melanie’s summer of sun and fun on Fire Island also turns into a summer of romance when she meets cute, sweet, and thoughtful Justin. The two quickly become good friends and before long, they realize that they are completely attracted to one another, leading to a sweet, sensitive romance, one that Justin insists must end at the end of the summer. After her family leaves Fire Island and heads home, Melanie tries to forget about Justin, but her heart won’t let her... especially after she sees his photo on the cover of a magazine and learns that he is to be a regular actor on a tv show. Melanie decides that she must see him again, not only to see if they have a chance, but to also find out why he kept his secret from her. I enjoy reading Nicholas Sparks’ love stories for adults, but we all know that not all relationships last. Just A Summer Romance is a sweet love story that also proves what a risk long-distance relationships can be, at least in terms of whether or not they always end in the “forever” that so many people hope for when they fall in love. Just A Summer Romance is a great book that chooses a tender method of conveying the idea that a long-distance relationship might not be worth pursuing because there’s always a chance that it might not work out. I enjoyed reading this book, a classic teen romance in my opinion, that tells its story poignantly and believably! Recommended!
