Just Words

I am not a poet / professional writer in the traditional sense.  There will be critics to say I am not a poet in any sense.  I must agree.  I am a writer of words designed to intrigue, puzzle, flatter, touch, and shake the reader. I am and have been, from a very early age, a writer of words.  To claim to be more would be at best egocentric. The words one person writes may inspire some and bore others. They may be at once wonderful and glorious and awful and trite.

I am a high school history teacher who is not expected to have a life nor much imagination.  But both these assumptions can be wrong.  Having written poems and essays for over forty years, as well as putting thoughts to paper in letters to various editors’, I have finally decided to publish my own ramblings and hope there is an appreciative, diverse and witty public out there. There are a few jokes and other things included which I collected from the internet as well. After all the title is Just Words.

My topics are varied and I believe my passion obvious. I find many subjects curious and worthy of a scrap of paper and a moment.  My object is first to get the words down for often I have no say so in the matter.  The process happens and indeed must happen or I would burst. I know very little about the creative process, but I do know it is a compelling and ferocious force.
