Publisher Description
This book was created for non-Korean learners who are beginning their study of the Korean language. As suggested by the title K-Alphabet, it focuses on learning Hangul consonants and vowels through clear explanations and systematic practice. Accurate Hangul instruction is an essential first step in Korean language learning, as it supports correct reading, writing, and sentence formation.
In many beginner Korean textbooks, Hangul is introduced only briefly at the beginning of the course. However, teaching experience has shown that learners who study Hangul in a focused and structured way develop stronger overall language skills. For this reason, this book was designed as an independent textbook dedicated entirely to Hangul.
The book covers vowels, consonants, and final consonants (batchim). The sequence—Vowels 1, Consonants 1, Consonants 2, Vowels 2, and Batchim— was determined based on learning difficulty and frequency of use. Each unit includes listening and reading practice to help learners recognize sounds and letters accurately. The batchim section also introduces the sound linking rule, which is necessary for natural reading of words and sentences.
Because the content is carefully organized, this book can be used easily by teachers with limited teaching experience, as well as by independent learners. It allows learners to study Hangul accurately and efficiently within a short period of time.
The authors are experienced Korean language educators who have worked with beginner-level learners for many years. We hope this book will be a helpful guide for both teachers and learners, and we sincerely encourage all learners as they take their first steps toward fluency in Korean.
