The mega-bestselling novel that made Jeffrey Archer a star, Kane and Abel, “a sprawling blockbuster!”—Publishers Weekly
TWO STRANGERS BORN WORLDS APART. ONE DESTINY THAT WOULD DEFINE THEM BOTH...
William Lowell Kane and Abel Rosnovski, one the son of a Boston millionaire, the other a penniless Polish immigrant—born on the same day near the turn of the century on opposite sides of the world—are brought together by fate and the quest of a dream.
Two men—ambitious, powerful, ruthless—are locked in a relentless struggle to build an empire, fueled by their all-consuming hatred. Over sixty years and three generations, through war, marriage, fortune, and disaster, Kane and Abel battle for the success and triumph that only one man can have.
“Archer is a master entertainer.”—Time
APPLE BOOKS REVIEW
Kane and Abel is an exciting literary gem you may have never heard of. The novel follows Abel Rosnovski and William Kane, two men born on the same day into two very different social worlds. Jeffrey Archer’s epic spans decades, following his two protagonists as their separate journeys toward wealth and power collide. Along the way, the story explores fascinating historical moments, including the Great Depression and the First and Second World Wars—all seen from perspectives in England and America. We loved the colorful, melodramatic way Archer deals with issues of intergenerational wealth, personal legacy, and the dramatic turmoil of the early 20th century. Kane and Abel had us looking back at this seismic era with new eyes and got us very curious about how the characters’ offspring would continue to push the story forward. Luckily for us, there’s a sequel: 1982’s The Prodigal Daughter.

A story of misplaced hatred that never faltered
In this story of Kane and Abel we meet two very strong, driven men who are equally stubborn. I found myself getting depressed reading through the first pages, then glimmers of hope and triumph, to all come to a heart breaking end.
All appetites satisfied
Compelling, heartwarming and endearing of human spirit!
Beautiful, tragic saga of two proud men!
This book is magnificent! It draws you in from the first chapter, and gets you into bed early each night, to read more! It’s a wonderful lesson in forgiveness and pride, that goeth before a fall! I was sad when it ended, but loved the ending! Enjoy
