Publisher Description
He’s a hired gun. A hardened killer. So how’d he end up bottle-feeding lambs for his best friend’s sister?
Dante didn’t set out to deceive. His favor for a pal in prison got him this farmhand job, and Jen needs help guarding more than her blueberries. Someone’s set on hurting her, and he’ll make damn sure they don’t. She can’t know who sent him or why he’s handier with a handgun than a hoe. But none of that matters more than keeping Jen safe.
To save the girl, he’ll have to pair old skills with new. A princess tea party and an old-fashioned gunfight? Why not. Grape stomping and grenades? Sign him up.
But as the enemy closes in, there’s one skill Dante finds he doesn’t have: The strength to walk away when the job is done.

So suspenseful
OMG this book is sooooo good!!! The suspense, the connection between Jen and Dante, and the family kept me turning the pages to see what would happen next. I couldn’t put this down and was shocked by all the twists and turns.
This trio is so mysterious and I’m counting down the days until I can learn more about the next two.

Killer Instincts is book 1 in Assassins in Love series by Tawna Fenske. After reading the prequel Killer Looks couldn’t wait to start this series!
First up is Dante and Jen (Matteo’s sister). With Matteo in prison, he asks Dante to watch out and protect Jen from her ex fiancé who is putting pressure on her to sell the family vineyards.
What happens next will keep you turning the pages to see what Dante will do to protect Jen, finding a relationship neither expected, and where it all ends…can’t wait for the next book in this series!
Don’t think an assassin can be swoony - you haven’t met Dante
This book is everything a romantic suspense tale should be. I did not simply read the words on the page as a voyeur in Dante and Jen’s lives. Instead, I was immersed in the story from the first sentence to the last. Jen owns a vineyard, takes care of abandoned farm animals, her brother is in prison, and her ex-fiancée is squeezing her for money. Dante is former Dovlanese military, former Dovlanese palace security, and has killed bad people when necessary. He’s also best friends with Jen’s brother Matteo and goes to her vineyard to check on her. The journey to Dante and Jen’s HEA starts with a mistaken identity resulting in Dante getting hired to work for Jen as a farmhand, but their feelings for each other are not far behind. This book has a little bit of everything just like you would expect from a good romantic suspense story - sweet moments, strong friendships and family, sexy times, real life issues, imperfect characters, dangerous high stress situations, some chuckles, and over the top alpha protectiveness. Expect to feel all the things as you read about Dante and Jen - you will laugh, cry, swoon, grind your teeth, cheer, and happy sigh. While the bad guy in the story was fairly easy to guess, that did nothing to diminish the ratcheting up of the suspense or the enjoyment of the story. This book did a great job of balancing the romance with the suspense making both important and integral parts of the story. This was a fantastic start to a new series and I am excited to read the next book.
