Mathiessen is a wonderfull author, beautiful engaging prose. His novel, nature studies and Buddhist works a all memorable and enjoyable, an elegant writer. He joined James Schuller,a naturalist who consulted with many countries on developing national parks. Highly reccomentd ‘Snow Leopard” as well. Actually I‘ve camped at his homestead in the 'Thousand Islands' area of the Everglades on a fifty miles solo canoe trip in the Glades.an intersting place to sleep knowing his history, spooky !
