Publisher Description
Once upon a time…there was a girl who worked in a bookstore and lived a happy but quiet life until a prince swept into her world. It was as if all my dreams came true. The perfect life with a happy home and a handsome Prince.
But unfortunately, it was nothing more than that, a dream. Because life is not all fairytales and there are no handsome princes, only dangerous secrets and the devil himself, the king of lies.
There are no Happily Ever Afters. At least not for me. There are only monsters that live within these castle walls.

Fairytales and Secrets
King of Lies is the first book in the Royal Secrets and Lies Series which focuses on Stella, who is employed at a bookstore and believes in romantic fairytales, and Reyes, who rescues her from a fall from a ladder. Their first meeting soon morphs into a steamy relationship, but, Stella’s Cinderella story soon comes crashing as Reyes has been hiding secrets which brings danger and suspense into their lives. This well written book ends in a cliffhanger and the story continues in Crown of Thorns.

Lies, Secrets, and Cliffhanger
This was my first by the author. I loved the crafting of the frame, the world building, the characters, the dialogue, Stella's naïveté, Rhys's goals, and the pacing of the story.
I would give this book five stars except for two things:
a) the frame work that uses a cliffhanger, which made me wonder how many additional books I would need to read to finish the story
b) the over reliance on the chapter sub titles to move the story (which was not necessary given the rest of the excellent writing).
I recommend this to readers who want a good story with a cliffhanger.

This story is told in 3 books. This is book 1. I loved it so much I preordered books 2 and 3!
Stella is thrust into a romance that turns fast and furious. Rhys is hot, demanding, and a crowned prince. Stella had no idea, accepts his reasons and follows him back home to his ailing father. She’s not in Virginia anymore. Cruelty waits at every turn. Culture shock has taken over. Stella does her best to fit into a new role, a life thrust into her, in which she has no clue if she wants in. Regardless of her love for Rhys, she is seeing him in a different light. She wants out. Her escape is foiled. I can’t wait to find out what’s next for Stella as she tries to flee back home to America.
