Publisher Description
I'm not the sort of girl you take home to meet your parents.
But our marriage of convenience is the perfect revenge…
I find Darren Walker drowning himself in expensive whiskey. Young, handsome, and educated, he's the playboy son of a U.S. Senator, and his father's sudden death has hit him harder than expected.
When he offers me millions of dollars to marry him, I want to tell him that I can't be bought.
But of course, that's not true, and Darren is prepared to play dirty.
He's made it his life's mission to squander his potential in order to avoid living in his father's shadow. But if he wants to see even one cent of his trust fund, he needs a wife. And not just any wife will do.
Ours will purely be a marriage of convenience, and I'm going to be his final, perfect revenge.
My name is Evangeline Bowen, and I'm an escort to the rich and powerful. But soon I'll be the wife of a Senator's son, who thinks he knows all my dark secrets.
All of them, except for one…
King of Nothing is the first book in The Kingmaker trilogy, a steamy marriage of convenience romance full of political scandal. The books must be read in order for the best reader experience. This book does end in a cliffhanger.

An intriguing start to a new trilogy!
“King of Nothing” is the first book in Paula Dombrowiak’s new Kingmaker Trilogy. This book sets the scene for Darren and Evangeline’s love story, and I thought it was a great start to the trilogy!
When 27 year old Darren Walker’s parents die unexpectedly, he is shocked to discover that he won’t be able to access his inheritance money until he turns 30 or is married.
Since the last thing he wants to do is wait 3 years to access those funds, Darren ends up convincing Evangeline to marry him immediately in exchange for 5 million dollars.
The only problem? Darren’s father was an important and influential senator, and Evangeline works as an escort for the rich and powerful.
They’re a match that’s likely to end in disaster, especially if the truth about Evangeline’s former profession is revealed.
I think that Darren needed to find a wife and Evangeline was a convenient option, but I also think he was attracted to her and wasn’t quite ready to let her go yet.
I also think that Evangeline felt like she had no choice but to marry Darren, but she also wasn’t expecting to start actually falling for him.
To sum this up, I’m definitely invested in these characters, and I can’t wait to see what happens next!
Amazing
Omg! Paula did an amazing job with this one! I love it since chapter one and couldn’t stop reading. I read this and listened to it in one day non stop. It was amazing. I’m so much in love with these two and the chemistry between them is amazing. All the passion all the indifference. I love the relationship they are creating and the pull between them is strong. I love it. And the cliffhanger….well I knew it was gonna be hard because it’s a trilogy but gosh! I wasn’t that ready! I need book 2 now! It was amazing!!!
Great Start To Trilogy!
Compelling characters and intrigue set the stage for Paula Dombrowiak's King of Nothing, the first book in her Kingmaker Trilogy!
This first book in the Kingmaker Trilogy was full of secrets waiting to break through and Ms. Dombrowiak did a great job of building up the hints and anticipation. Darren Walker, the pleasure-seeking son of a Senator with a life of wealth and privilege, quickly had his world shaken up as he was thrust unexpectedly into a place he never thought he would be. High-end escort Evangeline Bowen was wise beyond her years and knowing more than Darren suspected held his future in her hands for a price. The dynamic between Darren and Evangeline was incredibly interesting filled with darkness and an odd compassion that translated well. Their budding relationship was charged by desire and hidden agendas keeping this work on its toes.
Paula Dombrowski is known for her daring writing as she creates out of box portrayals for some consuming stories. This author's emotions run deep and she does not worry about showing her character's blemishes. It is almost impossible not to dwell on this author's books long after the last page is turned. Paula Dombrowiak's King of Nothing brings a top-notch political suspense romance to her readers fueled with secrets and unorthodox heroes and heroines that will leave readers eagerly awaiting the books to follow!
