Publisher Description
When a fifteen-year-old girl is abducted by vampires, it’s up to U.S. Marshal Anita Blake to find her. And when she does, she’s faced with something she’s never seen before: a terrifyingly ordinary group of people—kids, grandparents, soccer moms—all recently turned and willing to die to avoid serving a master. And where there’s one martyr, there will be more…
But even vampires have monsters that they’re afraid of. And Anita is one of them…
PUBLISHERS WEEKLY
It's a few more typical days in the life of Anita Blake, U.S. marshal and vampire hunter, and in her fast-paced if formulaic 21st adventure, that means an even balance of bloody police work and athletic preternatural sex. When Anita and her fellow marshals respond to the kidnapping of an underage girl seeking vampirization in their alternate St. Louis, they uncover a coven of rogue vampires whose terrorist fringe will put readers in mind of certain displaced contemporary cultures. The premise extends the series' depiction of vampires as second-class citizens seeking equality in their human-dominated world, and illuminates the difficulties of Anita's life as a mortal who takes preternaturals as her lovers. Anita's interactions with those lovers are fraught with just as much tension as the violent S.W.A.T. assaults. There's nothing here that Hamilton (Hit List) hasn't done already, but there's enough to sustain readers until Anita's next escapade.
Customer Reviews
For Anita fans this is great!
A great book. Though we don't get to see Richard or Jason, we do get so see Zerbrowski. We get to find out about Anita's relationship with Dolph. We hear a little bit about the female Marshal who was attacked by a werewolf in the last novel. LKH sets up future (possible) storylines with Anita and her colleague, Larry, as well as Anita and Detective Arnette--the detective who thought Anita was abusing Nathaniel. There's also a new character that I can't quite tell if he's a friend or foe, but I can see the possible future storylines being set up.
For Anita fans, this is another great book. Kimberly Alexis does a great job narrating (on audio) as always and I don't think you'll be disappointed.
Kiss the Dead
Another let down, I am done paying for a half written book. Loved the first 10 but it's been down hill from there. Too bad it had the makings of a great series.
Kiss the dead
I'm a forever fan and always well be. I just miss the story , the intensity of the situation. Sex is great, drama is better.
