Kitty-Cat Tales

Kitty-Cat Tales opens in the warm hush of bedtime, where a lonely little girl named Dolly is comforted by her speaking kitten, Impty, who promises to tell her a story each night until her parents return. From that intimate frame unfold a series of enchanting animal fables and fairy tales, beginning with "The White Cat," in which a youngest prince enters a magical castle, is aided by a beautiful white cat, and learns that loyalty, faith, and hidden kindness can triumph over impossible royal quests. The tales grow from wonder to wisdom: a Japanese gardener is rewarded for mercy by the glittering court of the field-mice, while a gray cat's envy of palace luxury leads her into danger, hunger, and at last gratitude for her humble home. Other stories follow a deceitful cat who invents absurd excuses to gorge himself on hidden meat, and a cat and mouse who attempt to build a life together. Lively, comic, and moral, these stories blend folklore, animal fantasy, and gentle lessons about contentment, greed, trust, and the surprising help that comes from unlikely friends.
