Wonder is the beginning of everything.

"Jesse! Leave me alone!" Gemma screamed, "Just GO!"

Jesse's chest jolted as if stung by a hornet, and his heart wailed, "What's happened to Gemma? Where is her Light?"

An eight-year-old orphan, Jesse had been having a wonderful year with his grandmother, Gemma, at Windy Hill Farm on an island in New England. But now it is 1955, and Jesse finds that life can be bleak, with ruined crops, little to eat, and money in short supply. Gemma is worn out and bitterly broken-hearted that her husband, Daniel, is still missing after twenty-five years. On top of that, ominous strangers creep around the farm, seeking the ever-rumored treasure.

Jesse must shine his Light brighter than ever as he learns to cope while puzzling out astonishing mysteries and muddles. He is still becoming the accidental hero in his sometimes hilarious, sometimes perilous, but always amazing adventures. Jesse is learning to Know Wonder!
