In due course an official history of the Korean war was produced, dealing with the campaign in general, and the British Commonwealth Forces in particular, covering every aspect of the fighting and political background.
This book has been compiled to fill that gap. Many books have been published on the Korean campaign but none to my knowledge mentioning the Corps of Royal Electrical and Mechanical Engineers.
It was the first war waged by the United Nations to curb aggression and uphold the free way of life. It was the first occasion in which an integrated Division – composed of units and individuals from many Commonwealth countries – served successfully together. It was perhaps unique in the variety of engineering problems that emerged as the campaign progressed. Therefore, this book will have an appeal throughout the British Commonwealth, and in particular to all members of the REME even if the units that they served with are not specifically mentioned.
