Publisher Description

A personal portrait of Venice combining pictures and poems by the author taken as part of an assignment to distill the essence of the timeless city into only seven images. The extra images at the rear provide a sense of completion. The pictures were inspired by the authors interest in James McNeil Whistler who went there in 1879 for three months and stayed a year, producing some of his most memorable paintings. The author worked in the early morning or late evening in January, observing the city waking up and falling asleep.
