Lachmi Bai Rani of Jhansi

Michael White’s 1901 publication, subtitled The Jeanne d’Arc of India, tells the story of Lachmi Bai, Rani of Jhansi, and her role in India’s 1857 uprising against British rule. For her heroism, she became a symbol of Indian nationalism.
