Detective Ryan Jones is trying to put his life back together after the brutal conclusion of his last serial murder case. Two years later he continues to be lauded as a hero for saving the governor's niece and stopping the senseless hunting and murder of children. Now living a peaceful life detective Jones is suddenly being taunted by a copycat killer set on revenge.
As detective Jones hunts for the killer he realizes this suspect knows details of the previous murders that were never released to the public and only someone with ties to the original case could be involved. Not knowing who he can trust leaves detective Jones questioning everything including his own mental stability.
With Jone's ties to the governor's office this serial murder spree has detective Jones second guessing every clue as well as his ability to show restraint and bring this killer to justice.

Just say no.

This is the worst thing I've ever read. The writing is marred by rampantly inappropriate use of quotation marks, a disregard for commas and apostrophes, random capitalization, and spelling errors, many of which seem due to a lack of understanding of homonyms -- homophones in particular. There are too many "paragraphs" consisting of only one sentence. (Although, paragraph structure does improve slightly in the latter half.) There are also far too many sentence fragments posing as sentences! It's as if many portions of the writing are just notes for a story rather than the actual telling of a story. Of course, there are a few run-on sentences as well. Based on this writing sample, I'm not convinced the author could pass a high school English course. Adding to the displeasure are the repetitive phrases. A writer should have a better vocabulary. Too much of the storyline just doesn't seem plausible, and some scenes are truly cheesy. Most disappointing of all, the story is supposed to be a mystery-thriller set in state government, but the killer is revealed halfway through the story, an attempt to throw in a plot twist at the end fails miserably, and the author seems to have no understanding of the forensic process or the structure of state government. The one thing the author does well is name-drop local restaurants and describe what they serve, which is reasonable since that is his primary field of work. Write what you know, man. Just write what you know.
