APPLE BOOKS REVIEW
This installment of Kristen Ashley’s Colorado Mountain series is a brassy, sexy story about two people with hard lives and no reason to trust the future...or each other. After a miserable childhood and some bad choices, Lexie is finally turning her life around, but then she reluctantly agrees to pick up a stranger named Ty, who has just been released from prison. One quickie Vegas marriage later, the passionate couple is making a fresh start in small-town Colorado when their pasts catch up with them. Ashley makes the newlyweds’ hard-luck tale oddly inspiring—not to mention extra frisky.
Ashley's gritty third Colorado Mountain contemporary western (after Sweet Dreams) is lengthy but surprisingly fast-paced. Ex-con Ty Walker has vowed vengeance on the people who framed him. Gorgeous clotheshorse Lexie Berry is forced to do a favor for Shift, her deceased boyfriend's scummy best friend, and picks up Ty after he is released from prison. What Shift didn't tell Lexie is that he promised to set Ty up with a temporary wife so that he can return to Colorado and embark on his plan for revenge. After Ty explains and offers Lexie $50,000, she agrees to marry him, planning to use the money to start over once Ty's "business" is concluded and they divorce. They head to Ty's home in Carnal, Colo., where he resumes his former life and tries to keep his distance from her. Sizzling sex and a healthy dose of mystery will keep readers enthralled, though the heaps of profanity may not sit well with fans of sweeter romances.
As always, I’m here to inform my fellow readers, KA never disappoints me. She didn’t disappoint with the last ten books I’ve read by her and she certainly didn’t this time. Lexie and Ty are so good together, so right. I love their relationship, his reserved nature and short words to her outgoing nature and goofiness. They work so well. Here’s me hoping Maggie and Woods book comes soon.
Classic Kristen Ashley!
KA has a style no other can emulate. Others may try, but none can succeed. She’s an excellent story teller. Her books are filled with vivid imagery, stellar characters, and swoon worthy romance.
I loved this book!
At first I was not a fan of Ty’s, his use of a certain (P) word was a bit much and how he used it was a bit much. I did get over it and soon fell hard for Ty. With Lexi it was insta like, she was a great character and a perfect match for Ty.
Everyone should read Kristen Ashley’s books. This is the tenth book of hers I’ve read this year and I’m staring on the eleventh now. I can’t get enough of her characters!!!
