Allen Penfield Beach's love of Lake Champlain and his desire to increase people's knowledge and understanding of its history and culture inspired him to write Lake Champlain: As Centuries Pass in 1959.He was a man of vision and energy — and he had a passion for Lake Champlain. Like anyone with a passion, he didn't let things stand in the way of his goals. He was always looking for innovations, and when he traveled, he took copious notes on historical anecdotes, marketing schemes and better building techniques.
