Lancaster Green

James didn't think he'd ever return to the North County Branch's headquarters. Not after getting compromised and nearly killing his team as someone else pulled the strings. But now, maybe against his better instincts, he's returned from a month of medical leave. He'll rejoin the team, but he won't be the captain and he can't let them know how terrified he actually is.

His first case back focuses on Lancaster Green, a nursing home dealing with a strange haunting just blocks from his childhood home. It's the perfect mystery to get him back on his feet. But between the panic attacks, seeing Adele around every corner, and the dread of what will happen if his tight-knit family learns what happened, James is struggling both in and out of work.

The rest of the team can only do so much for James as he tries to move on from his worst nightmare. There's no closure coming, no instructions on what to do next. Just the rest of his life, looming in front of him.

But at least this is a simple case to start out with. Hopefully.
