Publisher Description
Destiny, duty, and desire clash in this epic new novel in J.R. Ward’s #1 New York Times bestselling Black Dagger Brotherhood series.
Lassiter, the fallen angel, is too good at the savior business. In his new role overseeing the fates of all vampires, he’s influenced outcomes he shouldn’t have—so the Creator is calling him home. But the angel has a reason to stay in Caldwell. He’s bonded with a mysterious female who seemed to appear from out of nowhere...and has powers that defy all reason.
Rahvyn is well aware that she doesn’t belong in the present. And she never intended to stay, for her true place is in the past. Lassiter proves to be undeniable, however, and she lets herself fall for the angel—until a secret he’s been keeping comes out and she fears that for him, it’s not about love, but duty.
As the Omega’s son reestablishes the Lessening Society, and the Brotherhood must resume the deadly war, an unfathomable tragedy occurs. In the aftermath, Rahvyn has to decide whether to stay and help—or save herself from an immortal heartbreak she knows will crush her very soul...

Amazing writer
Lassiter
First there were too many sub plots, but that was what made things interesting you could not tell what was coming next. It was an emotional roller coaster ride till the very end. I can’t wait for what is next.
You have to read this!
What a story. This is another JR Ward masterpiece. As with Black Dagger Brotherhood books, there are numerous storylines being addressed at
Any one time, but the main story of this book is that of Lassiter, the fallen angel who has taken on the responsibilities of the Scribe Virgin, and Rahvyn, Sahvage’s cousin who appeared during the last book in this series. At the end of the last book, it appears that their love story would never be told as both Lassiter and Rahvyn part forever. However circumstances arise in this novel that bring the two of them back together. The reader gets to know Lassiter in a completely different way than he has been portrayed during this series. In a separate storyline from last book, the demon Davina had completed a spell to conjure up someone to love her, and she brings Lash, son of the Omega, back from Dunnit. Unfortunately, he begins to initiate new members of the Lessening Society and suddenly the war is back on again. This story is pretty emotional with some exhilarating highs and devastating lows. JR Ward is extremely skilled at crafting a complex story, weaving various threads through each novel that all come together by the conclusion. As usual, I was consumed by this audiobook from beginning to end. I was completely unprepared for the turn the story takes at the end. I definitely recommend this audiobook to fans of the series and the entire series to readers who have not read it before. I believe it is one of the those highly original stand-out series that shouldn’t be missed.
