In LAST CALL, Gavin McLeod is a man who has it all. His corporate climb has positioned him as the next CEO at Holden Enterprises and he is financially stable, allowing him to provide for the grandfather who raised him. His private life is also on fire, as evidenced by the successful seduction of a sexy bartender who gets under his skin and makes him crave more than just sex. Life is perfect until the alluring woman in his arms turns out to be a serious road-block to his future, one that could bring everything he's worked for crashing down around him.
Sunny Black has spent her entire life tending to the needs of others: caring for her younger brother since she was ten, and serving bar patrons night after night. For the first time in years, she puts herself first, taking a trip on the wild side with a customer whose raw sexuality is too strong to deny. The next morning, however, she learns that in addition to rocking her world, the stranger might destroy everything and everyone she’s worked so hard to protect.
A game of sexual seduction and corporate chess ensues, but when Gavin and Sunny are unable to negotiate a satisfying resolution, Gavin’s boss steps in and puts both their lives at risk.
Each book in the Heat Wave series stands alone and can be read out of order. The series order is:
Savin' Me (Heat Wave Novel #1) - Previously released as Savin' Me
Last Call (Heat Wave Novel #2)
Crossing Lines (Heat Wave Novel #3)
A Christmas Heat Wave (A Heat Wave novella)
Going All In (Heat Wave Novel #4)
A Matter of Time (Heat Wave Novel #5)
This is the second book in the heat wave series and it is just as great as the first. Lots of hot and steamy scenes and even some suspense. Great humor and witty characters.
Review: Heat Wave #2: Last Call
Last Call by Alannah Lynne is the second book the Heat Wave series. It can be read as a standalone and out of order from the series.
This story focuses on Gavin, who is practically second-in-command at a big development company that develops resorts etc. He is sent by his boss to a small outer island town in North Carolina to check out a bar there. At this bar he meets Sunny and falls instantly in lust for this intriguing woman.
Sunny has never been the best at flirting and when the stunningly handsome Gavin enters her bar she is left stammering at his beauty. Until he laughs at something she said and the tension is gone and they hit it off.
What both of them fail to realize is that they have been placed at odds with each other since before they even met, and when they each realize that the other is standing in the way of their goals the poop hits the fan, big time.
Another smooth, easy read with a pleasant smattering of steam mixed in with intrigue and plot twists. Well-paced and a very enjoyable read.
Last Call, Heat Wave series #2
This is the 2nd book in the Heat Wave series, and what a story! Gavin meets Sunny working at the bar she owns and there's an instant attraction between the two. Things get complicated when he finds out why he was sent there to begin with. Another complication is Sunny's brother, whom she has been taking care since he was a teen. I loved reading about Sunny, she is such a strong and feisty woman, and just what Gavin needs as his life is not ending up like he envisioned. Make sure you pick up a copy to find out how they work all these things out, oh and of course to read all the sexy scenes too.
