Violet Pearl Moretti manages to suppress the battle within her heart for years by wearing the faces of different characters, starting with the vaudeville stage. Brooklyn, New York of the 1930's sets the stage for the first few chapters of this historical novel. Her mother dies of a tragic death when Violet is at the age of thirteen but she manages to suppress her sorrow and fear by being the class clown. Her outgoing personality is a cover-up for the insecurity she feels inside. She dreams of being a Prima Ballerina instead of the character who wears a dazzling, colorful wig, red nose and a oversized polka dot dress. Violet's father, Berto yearns to see his daughter star on the big stages of Broadway. Our Violet wants to go to the show and not be in it. A history of mental illness and a invisible spirit constantly nip at her heels to try to bring her down. Will Violet Pearl find peace and happiness before tragedy strikes again?
