So much RECOMMENDABLE!

Hereby, as a Ph.D. student and a newcomer to the world of teaching and research in Applied Linguistics(TPSOL), I found Step by Step Persian to be a useful source-book for learning Persian generally and a related teachable course-book at schools along with the other sources that experts have already introduced with more scientific validities.
You may sometimes find yourself overwhelmed by all kinds of Persian Language Teaching books, TPSOL teaching methods, and learning books off the shelf in this subject; but now this qualified book has brought a comprehensive prospect to the world of Persian Language Learning and Teaching for those who are looking for a sufficient and user-friendly source to improve their Persian regarding to supply all their needed skills in communication. Hopefully it has covered all 4-skill aspects of L2-Learning with a great manifestation in:

• Listening comprehension – video or audio clips
• Reading comprehension – expanding vocabulary bank and grammar structure
• Speaking – encouraging the student to practice pronunciation and speaking
• Writing comprehension – grammar structure and writing skills

Of course there are many existing methodologies for language learning and many in materials development, especially in teaching Persian and Applied Linguistics field; but teaching PSL is very different from teaching Persian to native Persian speakers due to the nature of language that is not exposed to the learner previously, so they’ll need to pick up a foreign and new language in a relatively short period of time under an environment with limited Persian language exposure and certainly it needs more considerations to help and support the learners’ needs systematically. And on the other hand, some books are more interactive than the others, encouraging students’ interaction in order to promote a Persian speaking environment; some other are focused on language comprehension, including reading and writing.
As a holistic view, totally we can say that all the mentioned concerns above are almost covered wonderfully with the efforts of Mrs. Seifi who is not a Linguist but she has tried her best to prepare and gather a general learning book in Persian Language for speakers of other languages in a well-designed way and up-to-date style of pulishing according to CALL(computer-assisted language learning) and technology. It should not be forgotten that there is a great treasure for her due to the experiences of several years teaching Persian in U.S and non-Persian schools during her professional career in American Schools. So the book must be worthy enough to be chosen according to this amazing background of author.

Really good for beginners

This book starts with real easy and basic words. The vocabulary builds up gradually and there is a good and easy progression together with the audio inside. Definitely recommend it!

Easy to start and easy to understand

I’ve always wanted to learn Farsi as my husband and his family speak it. I have picked up some words from them but really have been wanting to understand more. This book is so good for getting down the basics but also really good for those wanting to know all the grammer in more detail. I love all the audio pieces in it. It’s easy to understand. I’ve only done maybe 15-20 mins a day I’ve been able to speak more with his family and I’m definitely understanding so much. I’m also looking forward to my kids using it to learn Farsi.
