ENTERTAINING
With “Legacy” the second installment of the “Saga of the Bold People” the story is told from Mastrodai’s POV.
Mastrodai being Prince of Mragin, has duties to be performed. As he is being entertained by Gurrakai, he’s had to leave Leo securely protected on board the Nebula. With the Oath of Orlen, Mastrodai knows he’s too far away from Leopold. But Mastrodai feels it’s better this way as they’ve already been through so much, that Leo doesn’t need to have his life in danger again.
As Mastrodai is being entertained by Gurrakai and his mate, Thraly, the situation becomes complicated. He finds himself controlling his temper. He’s been faced with both male and female propositions, but he stayed loyal to Leo. Mastrodai is questioned in regards to his relationship with Leo. It’s even brought up that Leo show off his talents and hunt his own human species. It’s a hard reality for Mastrodai to face as it’s obvious that Leo is not welcomed on Mragin. Mastrodai also seems to struggle with Leo’s relationship with Alex, but for Leo he agrees to have her in their relationship.
As Mastrodai and Leopold are awaiting an important decision from the InterGalactic Council to do the right thing. Leo hopes that the IGC will give humans their dignity and freedom, as they are treated like property. It will also be hard on Mastrodai as he will have to realize that his home of Mragin may never be home for him again.
With “Legacy” The Prologue will give an in-depth look into when Mastrodai and Leo first laid eyes on each after an assassination gone wrong. It builds up the attraction and the persistence of Mastrodai and what he would do to find Leopold. From the first book, “Leopold”, their relationship grows to be very strong, from rejection, jealousy, commitment and a powerful physical relationship. I was somewhat confused with how their relationship lost that deep connection as Leo brings a female, Alex, into their union. I started to feel like it was all about Leo and what he wanted and the story lost some of that appeal between Mastrodai and Leo. The acceptance and true feelings was lost as the Alex relationship was just too fast for me. But I am just one reader and there may be others out there who like the MMF threesome. For me I was satisfied with the MM relationship.
As far as “Legacy” it’s still an entertaining story with the danger factor but its not as action packed as “Leopold.” It does give an important look at Leo’s life and how it’s important for everyone to have their freedom. Once again there’s a wealth of characters that bring all types of emotions to the tale: David, Maria, Lania, Raladai, Takjai, Rrelkrrai, Derkugai, Tenia, Raladai and many more.
I’m sure M.D. Grimm’s “Legacy” and “The Saga of the Bold People” series will have its appeal to many readers, as it’s really well written and entertaining.
