Planning to meet his sister in Germany, but, when she’s a no-show, Lennox has his first inkling that trouble has come home in a big way …
When his sister and her best friend go missing, Lennox is determined to find and to keep his only family member safe … and her best friend. They were both doctors, traveling the globe with the UN. Lennox was proud of his sister’s accomplishments. He’d never tried to hide their relationship, thinking no one from Lennox’s Navy SEALs past cared—or was still alive. Only now someone has decided to use Lennox’s only family as a way to exact revenge.
Helena is caught up in a kidnapping of Lennox’s sister, all designed to get back at Lennox—the most infuriating man she’s ever met. And one she’s cared for since forever. Now to know she was used as a trap to kidnap his sister and to take him out was the worst kind of punishment. But she knew this man. Knew him intimately—if only once—but also knew he was coming to rescue them, even if it meant losing his own life.
Lennox wasn’t letting the only two women in his world be taken out without a fight, … especially one who didn’t even know how he felt …
Lennox is given his own mission with complications. He’s supposed to be meeting his sister at an airport to spend some family time with her. He meets up with Gavin and finds out his sister, Caroline, her best friend Helena and two others were kidnapped at that same airport earlier. Caroline and Helena are doctors with the Red Cross and were traveling with two nurses, when they were Taken at gunpoint.
Both ladies and the nurses don’t know why, but an captor says it was because Lennox did something to him in the past and taking her, will bring Lennox to him.
Will it work? Why? What did Lennox do?
I received a complimentary copy of this book from Booksprout and I am voluntarily reviewing it.
Lennox arrives in Germany so he can spend time with his sister, Carolina. She is a doctor working for the Red Cross. While Lennox waits for her at the airport so they can share a ride together, Gavin comes up and telling him that Carolina, a fellow doctor and two nurses (one female and one male), were kidnapped. The race is on to try and find them before it is too late. Lennox and the entire Maverick team work tirelessly to discover the who, what and why behind the kidnapping.
Lennox has a prior history with the Helena, the fellow kidnapped victim and doctor with Carolina. Both woman have a special bond that goes back a LONG ways. Helena and Lennox verbally spar with each one whenever they are together. Lennox and Helena shared a dynamic kiss 5 years ago.
It was nice to read about a pair that had a prior connection years ago but ran from each other (mostly Helena ran from Lennox.) Seeing them come together and work to figure out the puzzling mystery behind the kidnapping made for a nice bookcation. While this is a part of The Maverick series, you can really read this as a stand-alone. Lennox was in the prior book but that doesn't play in any part with this story.
This story is written in a dual POV format. As the drama takes off right from the beginning practically, it was nice to see into the thoughts of the characters. Getting that glimpse into the whys and what-nots really made for an interesting story.
This is a sexy read but nothing graphic in detail. It was glossed over so it was erotica by any fashion but it may offend some. That being said, I would only recommend this story to anyone over the age of 18.
Could not put this book down once I started . The intensity from The Drs and nurses being kidnapped and held in a cage until rescued never stopped . Lennox Helena Carolina and Gavin’s search for the kidnappers and the reason why kept things interesting . I highly recommend this book by Dale Mayer to everyone . You know I always find myself having a hard time writing reviews because I’m afraid I’ll give the story away and I don’t want that to happen .
