Publisher Description

"I wish I would have done that when I had the chance". "If only I knew then what I know now," and the list goes on. Remorseful statements that seem to become an accepted part of our conversations in later years, as if we had little choice in the outcome. YET...we do. And the good news is that it is never too late, but we must seize those opportunities. My father deferred many dreams until retirement, and passed away two months before that day. Tomorrows are promised to no one.

'Lessons From the Back Roads' is not merely a motorcycle adventure, but the story of a freedom that is available to us all. The freedom we have to limit those regrets in our lives, regardless of age, and achieve those dreams that should never be filed away unrealized. This adventure represents a dream that provided me a life me of memories and changed me forever.

What truly defines a life? What makes us who we are? It is, in no small part, our life's experiences and those who surround us. It is the setbacks, the triumphs and those people in our lives through which the potter's hand gradually molds us into the shape we are to become. I had been molded in many ways - A brother's death in Vietnam when I was 7 years old, a motorcycle accident that took my father's life when I was a senior in high school, and an embarrassingly short ten day marriage in my early thirties. I was molded through positive influences as well - the unconditional love of a faithful mother, the positive role model of an older brother and my Chris an faith, which sustained me against life's many piercing arrows. And I was molded by my love for motorcycles...From riding in the 5 acre field behind my house as a kid, racing the Mexican Baja peninsula, trail riding through the Sierra Nevada Mountains and riding my Harley throughout the country. These experiences prepared me for this journey.

Ride along with me and experience the incredible lessons I learned from everyday people who I found really do make the best teachers in life. Thanks to them, my shape became a little more complete and my outlook on life a bit more clear...more satisfying. Hopefully you will be changed by these lessons as well and that you too will be motivated to realize your own dreams...dreams that may change your life forever.

What a great story...on so many levels. The snipets of human character and courage abound in the cross country journeys of a rambling man. From the humorous narration of daily trials that remind us of our own shortcomings and embarrassing moments to the moments of truth and wisdom that we aspire to incorporate into our own lives, this book has something for everyone - no matter where you are in your own life's journey.
Readers will be entertained, educated and challenged to think about what it means to pursue your dreams. And most importantly, the revelation on the importance of relationships and the impact we can have on others...even those we only meet in passing...is a lesson we can all learn from the back roads.
