Publisher Description
Being ruined is the least of Isabella Astley's problems.
Visiting the Dark Walks of Vauxhall seemed like a harmless adventure at the time. But ever since Lady Isabella overheard men plotting treason, someone has been trying to kill her!
Her only hope is Archibald Nettlethorpe-Ogilvy, a rich industrialist and engineering savant. Archibald fell hopelessly in love with Isabella the moment he clapped eyes on her. He has been scorned by so many women for being in trade that he knows such an ethereal beauty could never come to care for the likes of him. But now her life is in danger, and he happens to be one of the few men with enough wealth and power to protect her. Seizing his chance, he proposes marriage, an offer Isabella has no choice but to accept.
Passion flares between these unexpected lovers. For Archibald, putting his life on the line to keep Isabella safe is the easy part. But showing the woman who could crush him with a word his heart, and his true self? That is more terrifying than facing a thousand hired assassins…
Please note that the heat level is red hot!

Izzie’s Hero
Curious and a bit reckless, Isabella wanders off to explore the Dark Walks at Vauxhall Gardens. In her attempt to escape a persistent suitor and some frightening overheard discussion she runs straight into Archibald, and kisses him. It is a very nice kiss. Soon they realize Isabella is in danger. He convinces her to marry him and move into his family home (more like fortress) so that he can keep her safe. For the rest of the story, danger and humor walk hand-in-hand. Let Me Be Your Hero is an opposites-attract, (sort of) marriage of convenience story with lots of humor, a bit of mystery and danger, and romance. The characters a beyond entertaining. Isabella is a bluestocking, outspoken, perhaps a bit too curious, and the author of Gothic novels (which Archibald thinks is great). Thorpe, which is the nickname Isabella gave him is a blacksmith/engineer/inventor, very talented, quiet, gentle, caring, and protective. Thorpe’s parents are hilarious, and his grandfather is down-to-earth and proud of him When danger strikes and Izzie needs rescue, Thorpe is joined by the Astley crew, including Aunt Griselda and her dogs. An enjoyable read with humor, drama, action, and an absolutely happy ending.
I voluntarily reviewed an ARC of this book.
