Let there be Science

Throughout history, scientists have made discoveries and tested hypotheses that have revolutionised the way that we see the world. Our industry has been shaped by the discovery of electricity and the invention of machines; our understanding of the world has deepened as we have had gravity and the magnetic forces that govern the earth explained to us.

Century after century, big questions about our earth, nature around us, and the way our bodies work have been posed and gradually, or sometimes dramatically, answered.

Yet, there are still further questions to be asked.

Authors Tom McLeish and David Hutchings examine the story of science, and look at the part that Christian faith has played in that history. As they tell the stories of discovery after discovery, they reveal a powerful underlying reason for doing science in the first place. They argue that Christianity has been involved with and sometimes directly responsible for some of the biggest leaps forward in scientific history.
