A must read for aspiring authors
I first heard David Gaughran on a Draft2Digital podcast a few weeks ago. Since then, I have heard his name mentioned countless times by successful indie authors and knew I needed to read his books. I bought all 4 on Apple Books (and signed up for his email list!- you’re welcome, David). I learned so much reading Let’s Get Digital and can’t wait to read the rest of his books. Truly invaluable.
Good for starting out
If you plan on self-publishing your book, Let’s Get Digital will teach you the basics, and help you avoid some mistakes rookie publishers make.
I deducted a star because this book needs to be updated. Since its publication, there are new metadata tools to help find keywords and categories for your book. Publisher Rocket is an example. There are also book layout program that were released after 2020. In 2022, self-publishing is changing agin, with the lifting of public gathering restrictions. Tactics need to evolve with the times.
For now, this book is a good starting point, but you will need to do more research to understand the current state of the industry.
